Chris Couse

ccouse@kpmbarchitects.com Highly regarded by clients, engineers, specialty consultants and associated architects, Chris Couse is recognized for his in-depth expertise of the integrated design issues for academic and performing arts projects and projects that integrate existing structures. Chris studied architecture at Carleton University in Ottawa (B.Arch. 1982). After graduating, he joined the offices of Barton Myers Associates. During this period, he was the project architect under Tom Payne, for the Portland Center for the Performing Arts. Chris is a founding member and senior associate of KPMB. Some of his early work includes the Joseph S. Stauffer Library at Queen's University and the Art Gallery of Ontario Stage III Expansion. Other notable projects include the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, the Roy Thomson Hall Enhancement in Toronto, the Walter Carsen Centre for the National Ballet of Canada in Toronto, and the Sprague Memorial Hall for Yale University’s School of Music. He recently completed the Young Centre for the Performing Arts for George Brown College and Soulpepper Theatre and the Art Gallery of Hamilton Renewal. Currently, Chris is overseeing the Walgreen Drama Centre and Arthur Miller Theatre for the University of Michigan, 180 Queen Street West, and Hendrie Hall for the School of Music at Yale University. |
