On October 22, associate Laurence Holland will join Geoffrey Turnbull, director of innovation and sustainability at Kindred Works, and Adam Gerber, principal at ASPECT Structural Engineers, at the WoodWorks Summit for a panel discussion on mass timber.
Hosted by the Canadian Wood Council and the Brookfield Sustainability Institute, WoodWorks shares the latest advancements and applications in wood design and construction, with a focus on city building and market transformation.
During the panel, moderated by director of marketing Nina Boccia, Holland, Turnbull, and Gerber will discuss mass timber’s impact in reducing carbon footprints, its status as a renewable resource, and the Kindred Works project.
KPMB and ASPECT are working with Kindred Works to design a nationwide portfolio of mixed-income rental housing that will be partly developed with mass timber. Holland, Turnbull, and Gerber will discuss the challenges surrounding the implementation of mass timber for a large-scale residential portfolio. They will also share strategies that can advance the competitiveness and feasibility of mass timber, positioning it as a cornerstone of attainable housing and a sustainable construction future.
