KPMB is proud to support the Museum of Contemporary Art’s exhibition, House of Card, as a major sponsor. The exhibition running from September 16th – January 8th, 2022, includes photography by German artist Thomas Demand, marking his first major show in Canada. Curated by November Paynter, House of Card showcases Demand’s work and collaborations with other interdisciplinary artists including Turner Prize-winning Scottish sculptor Martin Boyce, Argentinian-born, Toronto-trained conceptual artist Rirkrit Tiravanija and London-based architects Adam Caruso and Peter St John of architectural firm, Caruso St John.
House of Card includes a new selection of works and is based on an exhibition first produced and presented by the Museum Leuven in Belgium in 2020, curated by Valerie Verhack. Spanning three floors of the museum, the exhibition focuses on sculpture through the medium of large-scale photography.
“Collaboration is much stronger than a singular voice” says KPMB Partner, Bruno Weber who attended the opening “As an architect I am always working in tandem with a range of partners to find the best solution, so I appreciated the connection between Demand’s work and fellow creatives, Martin Boyce, Rirkrit Tiravanija & Caruso St John. This show inspires viewers to examine the design process and understand how it is both a singular and collaborative effort.”
