On September 26, senior associate Lucy Timbers, who served as project architect and project manager for the Center for Computing & Data Sciences at Boston University, will join Dennis Carlberg (Boston University), Erik Olsen (Transsolar), and Jacob Knowles (BR+A Consulting Engineers) for a presentation at the 2023 Greenbuild International Conference + Expo in Washington, DC.
Using lessons learned from working together on the Center, the team will speak about translating sustainability plans into operational goals, designing all-electric tall buildings, proposing geothermal solutions for urban settings, prioritizing high-performance design, and influencing standards in institutions and municipalities.
The Center, which is Boston University’s first LEED Platinum building and one of the most sustainable buildings in Boston, set sustainability precedents for the university and the city when it was built. A robust geothermal system, an energy-efficient façade, a ground water recharge system, and a Zero Waste initiative are just some of the reasons why The Boston Globe called it “the most environmentally friendly tower in the city.”
