We’re pleased to share that Park Hyatt Toronto has received a MICHELIN Key from the MICHELIN Guide.

The MICHELIN Guide, known for its sought-after restaurant ratings, recently debuted a distinction for recognizing the most exceptional hotels worldwide: the MICHELIN Key. The MICHELIN Guide uses five criteria when selecting hotels: excellence in architecture and interior design; quality and consistency of service; overall personality and character; value for the price; and being a significant contributor to the local area.

A local landmark with a rich history as a destination for Canadian authors, musicians, and dignitaries, Park Hyatt Toronto is one of 33 hotels in Canada – and one of seven in Toronto – with a MICHELIN Key.

KPMB renovated the hotel and restored the heritage south tower together with ERA Architects and Studio Munge. A new restaurant, conference centre, ballroom, and spa were added to the hotel, and rooms and residential units were refurbished and upgraded. The legendary rooftop bar – Writers Room – was also redesigned and expanded.

The hotel’s transformation also includes a reconstructed link between the north and south towers; a reconfigured elevator core with custom metal-panel cladding in a bronze finish; the addition of a glass-fronted central podium; the renovation of the north tower; a new lobby; a new entrance with a public art sculpture by Taiwanese-Canadian artist An Te Liu; and a black feature staircase clad in dark wood and natural stone.

Artworks of varying scales are present throughout the hotel, including beadwork tapestry by Algonquin artist Nadia Myre, works from the Gardiner Museum’s collection and Canadian artists including Shannon Bool and Douglas Coupland, and archival photographs of historic happenings and events at the original Park Hyatt Hotel.
