On November 22, founding partner Shirley Blumberg will participate in a panel discussion on heritage preservation at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto.
Among the panelists are Ken Greenberg, urban designer and co-founder of Ontario Place for All; Javier Ors Ausín, architect and senior program manager at World Monuments Fund; Brigitte Shim, architect and Daniels Faculty associate professor; Alex Bozikovic, architecture critic at The Globe and Mail; and Chris Glover, Ontario MPP (Spadina-Fort York).
The panel is part of the Daniels Faculty’s two-day symposium and its Fall 2024 Public Program. Panelists will explore the challenges of preserving modern architectural heritage in rapidly growing cities like Toronto, where accelerated development, gentrification, high demand for housing, and urban expansion pose significant threats.
At KPMB, we believe in restoring and enhancing the many heritage buildings in Toronto and beyond so they can flourish into the future. Blumberg has brought many of the firm’s heritage projects to fruition. Her portfolio includes the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Political Science and Economics at the University of Pennsylvania; the Julis Romo Rabinowitz Building & Louis A. Simpson International Building at Princeton University; the Centre for International Governance Innovation; Ottawa’s Global Centre for Pluralism; and Toronto’s Design Exchange.
