Alistair Grierson
Originally from Port Perry, Ontario, Alistair Grierson joined KPMB in 2016. Drawn to architecture and the art of making early in life, his path to KPMB included a position at the University of Toronto’s architecture school — where he completed his master’s degree — as a teaching assistant.
After graduating, he worked alongside acclaimed artist An Te Liu as a studio assistant and designed models and displays for the Italy Under Construction architecture exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute in Toronto. Alistair’s passion for making and collaborative iteration underpins his approach to architecture.
Since joining the firm, he has worked on projects including The Brearley School in Manhattan, the modernization of the Jenny Belzberg Theatre at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, the residential portfolio for Kindred Works, and the transformation of the Werklund Centre (formerly Arts Commons) in Calgary. Contributing to all project phases from concept design through to contract administration, Alistair ensures decisions and deliverables are duly managed and communicated with all partners, consultants, and clients.
His passion for making and sharing extends beyond project work: he is trained in sculpture and bronze casting, and he volunteers for the Toronto Society of Architects.
“Creativity, rigorous organization, and effective communication from concept to realization builds trust.”
