Laura Alexim
Laura, who comes from a family of architects, brings nearly a decade of People and Culture leadership to KPMB Architects. She is passionate about fostering robust and collaborative workplace cultures and has extensive experience developing and managing comprehensive HR strategies for organizations across various sectors.
In previous roles, Laura has successfully led organizations through the development, rollout, and maintenance of essential HR functions. Her expertise includes recruitment, onboarding, goal setting and performance management, employee engagement, policy development and compliance, benefits administration, compensation analysis, workplace health and safety, and equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Laura believes that good relationship-building is vital to a thriving workplace. She values creating environments where employees are equipped with the tools and resources to build strong, fruitful connections with each other.
Laura is committed to enhancing the employee experience by cultivating spaces that empower individuals to do their best work. This includes providing supportive systems, policies, and programs that contribute to a positive workplace culture. Recognizing that people spend a significant portion of their lives at work, she strives to make the work environment enjoyable, meaningful, and conducive to personal and professional growth.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources Management from Trent University and has furthered her knowledge with certifications in Labour Relations, HRBP, and Mental Health and Psychological Safety in the workplace.
Outside the office, Laura enjoys spending time with her family and activities like sewing, knitting, skiing, and hiking.
